Less Stress, More Thanks and Giving

Thanksgiving is our most beloved holiday!  We spend the holiday with friends and family, everyone who we are thankful for.  We love Thanksgiving because of the food (of course), the cute fall decorations, and the quality time spent with loved ones!

Most of us don’t quite remember where the holiday came from.  The Mayflower brought the Pilgrims to what we now know as America, where they had a rough start, to say the least.  These newcomers were faced with a new world, and had to adjust to their new home.  After the first harvest, the Pilgrims and the Indians sat down to enjoy the feast!  This was the first “official” Thanksgiving.  The holiday was proclaimed a national holiday back in 1700s by Congress.Screenshot_5

We have come a long way since that first Thanksgiving dinner.  They might have had the mere basics like corn, turkey, and potatoes, mainly food that was easy to grow and hunt.  This Thanksgiving we are eating like kings!  There are usually both ham and turkey on the table, along with several sides!  “Can you pass the mashed potatoes?”  Be thankful for mamaw’s stuffing this Thanksgiving!

Get excited foScreenshot_6r all the Thanksgiving decorations!  Be ready for cute serving platters, DIY signs, and fall decor!  Get the kids involved in making some kid-friendly crafts! Try making DIY turkeys with some construction paper!  Make some teepees out of waffle cones!  You definitely need the trendy “Give Thanks” signs and the “Be Thankful” place mats!

Try not to let the stress hit you this season! Don’t stress over Cousin Sally bringing store bought food, or Uncle Joe bringing an extra guest, or even get mad at the kids for being too loud!  Be thankful!  Between the cooking and the decorating, take a minute to think about all you have to be thankful for!  Although you might burn the pie crusts, or you might forget to vacuum before the family comes over, don’t forget to be thankful!
